Nandwani Design Studio

I’m Sunaina Nandwani, founder and principal of Nandwani Design Studio. I grew up in Chandigarh, India, a city designed by Le Corbusier and shaped by clarity, proportion, and purpose. Growing up there taught me early that space is never neutral. It either holds you, or it doesn’t. That understanding became foundational to how I see design. I trained as an architect there, then spent over a decade building an independent design practice across India, working across homes, boutique retail, and experiential spaces. Those years shaped a way of designing rooted in listening, restraint, and the belief that the most powerful spaces are often the most quietly resolved.

My perspective has been shaped not only by architecture, but also by yoga, travel, and a close attention to light, texture, and ritual, all of which continue to inform how I design. Through Nandwani Design Studio, I create story-driven interiors rooted in calm, cultural depth, and natural materiality. Built in Vancouver and shaped by Chandigarh, the practice balances contemporary clarity with a strong sense of memory and place. Design, for me, is alignment: the meeting point between people and place, structure and purpose, rhythm and ease. I pay close attention to atmosphere, material continuity, and the way a space is experienced over time, shaping interiors that feel grounded, connected, and quietly complete.

The Quiet Edit

Design is not about adding endlessly. It is about editing carefully.

Every project begins with a story. How you live, what you repeat, what you want to feel more of.

We shape layout, material, and detail until the space reads clean and calm. Until nothing feels excessive and nothing feels missing. That process is what we call The Quiet Edit.

The three principles
01Remove the noise

We simplify the space first. Clarifying layout, circulation, and the architecture that anchors the room.

02Build the language

Materials, textures, and objects are chosen carefully so the space feels cohesive rather than decorated.

03Let the space breathe

Good design leaves room for stillness. The goal is not to fill every corner, but to create depth and quiet clarity.

We create spaces with quiet depth. Spaces that hold who you are, where you have been, and how you want to feel.
